Error "External sharing is disabled for (organisation link)" is displayed when viewing a document
Issue
We have sent a client a Collaborate link for a document but when they click the link they encounter the error "That didn't work. External sharing is disabled for (organisation URL)."
Cause
If the link works for other users, it's likely the issue is related to that specific client's browser used to log in. The client may have logged into multiple Microsoft tenants, and then opening the link caused an account mismatch.
Resolution
The client will need to log in using an Incognito/Private browser session. The user will be requested to sign in before viewing the document.
