Formatting in FYI email templates sometimes does not flow through when creating an email. The cause of this issue is the HTML code behind the text in the template, sometimes resulting from copying and pasting text into the email template area.
For example, if an email template is setup as follows:
When an email is created using the template there may be some of the formatting that does not flow through, such as in the example below where this does not have the bold on the text “2019 – Notice of Assessment”.
To fix the issue you need to edit the email template, remove all formatting and reapply it as detailed below.
Step 1. Locate the email template that needs to be corrected.
- From FYI, click Settings in the top right-hand corner.
- Select Practice settings from the drop-down, then select Documents.
If you are not an FYI administrator but have access to administer templates,
from Settings select Documents.
- Go to the Templates tab.
- In the list of templates, locate the email template that needs to be corrected.
Step 2. Click the name of the email template to open it.
Step 3. Select all of the template text.
You can use the keyboard shortcut ‘CTRL’ + ‘A’ to select all text if your cursor is inside the text editing field.
Step 4. Remove the font Style
With the text highlighted, click the Remove font style tool.
This removes any of the formatting from the selected text. For example, any text in bold, italic, any font styles or colours will revert to normal.
Step 5. Re-format the text
Re-format the text in the template as required using the functions within the email editor.
Note: Make sure you do not use copy and paste for any of the text as this may not resolve the issue.
Step 6. Save
Click Save to save the changes made to the template.
